Government Fiber Optic & Structured Cabling Services
At FiberTechs, we take the necessary steps to be safe and cautious about working in sensitive areas when we provide government fiber optic services. There are two types of contractor programs that require workers to go through an extensive verification process which involves screenings and background checks to ensure that workers are qualified to safely work in sensitive areas. The two types of secure contractors are The Secure Worker Access Consortium (SWAC) and The Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
TWIC Government Contractor
This credential is required by the Maritime Transportation Security Act, and is required for workers who need access to secure areas of the US maritime facilities and vessels. A thorough background check is put in place to determine if the individual is eligible, and then the credential is issued.
SWAC Government Contractor
The Secure Worker Access Consortium ensures that workers are verified, have experienced criminal history checks, counter-terrorism screenings, and proper validation. SWAC is relied on by many sensitive facilities to make sure that all workers are educated on workplace safety and security best practices.
Here at FiberTechs, we have obtained both of these requirements and are eligible to safely work in sensitive facilities.

Prevailing Wage Contractor For Government Funded Projects
FiberTechs is a Prevailing Wage contractor for government projects. The Davis-Bacon Act states that any government project in excess of $2,000 for construction of public works must pay workers the local prevailing wage and fringe benefits. This act covers a variety of federally funded projects and services such as military bases.
For public works, prevailing wages will be required. “Public work” refers to any construction, reconstruction, demolition, alteration, or maintenance work done on any property or premise. Contracts that are awarded directly by the government have to have a value of $15,444 or more to be covered by the New Jersey Prevailing Wage Act.
Prevailing wages will also be required if the public body owns the property, or when the project involves a partnership such as the New Jersey Economic Development Authority, the NJ Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency, or the New Jersey Educational Facilities Authority.
